I wanted to create a quick resource for federal workers (and anyone who is dealing with anxiety in this moment) ahead of a government shutdown. Whether the government shuts down or not, we have to take care of ourselves.

The hope is that this list can be used by anyone – furloughed, on call, or working essential functions without pay – any time.

Work like a human.

1. Breathe

Sync your breathing to this gif for about 5 minutes.

2. Make a quick gratitude list

Set a timer for 5 minutes. In that time, list everything you are grateful for on a post-it note or scrap piece of paper.

Keep the list visible so you can glance at it throughout your work day.

3. Five minute body scan

Check out this quick body scan on YouTube. This is something that you can do at your desk (but maybe close your email).

4. Five minute self compassion exercise

Another quick break you can take at your desk. Less than 5 minutes to check in with yourself and your emotions.

5. Read words of encouragement from your fellow feds

From the r/fednews subreddit. The main thread is wonderful but I wanted to highlight this contribution for the blog.
